Water
One of the most important things you can do for smooth and glowing skin is drink plenty of water. Your aim should be to drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day. Water helps the body flush out toxins and waste. However, avoid sugary drinks, alcohol and carbonated drinks.
Also try to eat fruits and vegetables that are high in water content. Washing your face at least twice a day with water will also help improve your skin’s health and appearance.
Lemon Juice
Lemon juice can be used to cleanse your skin, lighten spots and scars, as well as soften and smooth it.
This citrus-rich fruit contains cleansing enzymes that remove dead skin cells, leaving your skin smoother and fresher. With its excellent astringent properties, lemon is a great natural cleanser for people who have oily skin.
To lighten dark spots and acne marks, you can use fresh squeezed lemon juice and apply it to your entire face and neck. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. You can do this daily or several times a week.
For soft, smooth skin, mix lemon juice from half a lemon and one egg white. Apply it to your face. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Repeat once or twice a week.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil works as a natural moisturizer and helps in treating dry, scaly skin – making it soft and smooth. This oil is an easily available dry skin home remedy. It contains ample amounts of fatty acid that can compensate for any loss of moisture from the skin. It works its full magic when left on the skin overnight.
Castor Oil
Castor oil is bestowed with natural therapeutic powers of recinoleic acid and vitamin E that can protect your skin against soap, warm water and the winter dryness. This acts as a natural astringent to take away all impurities from your skin. It easily seeps into skin and nourishes it. Dab it onto the extremely dry areas over your face to hydrate, avoiding eyes.
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is the best home remedy to get soft and glowing skin. This can resolve the dry skin problem. Aloe Vera pulp contains moisture that can help to maintain smoothness and suppleness of your skin. Extract the gel from Aloe Vera and then gently rub it on your skin, let it stand for few minutes and then clean it with warm water.
Honey
Make a thick paste with honey and cinnamon powder. Apply it on face and leave it for overnight. Clean with lukewarm water on the next morning.
Tomato paste
Apply tomato paste on pimples. Leave it for an hour and wash with water. This is an efficient remedy for treating pimples.
Coco Butter
Coco butter is also a best home remedy to cure rough skin. This is a natural softening agent that can moisturize your skin more effectively. You can also try Shea butter because it has same properties as coco butter. Take this butter and gently apply on your face and wash it off after 10 to 15 minutes with warm water.
