Ginger
Ginger is an excellent home remedy for curing almost all types of digestive problems, including those caused by food poisoning.
Drink one cup of ginger tea after eating lunch or dinner to stop heartburn, nausea and other symptoms associated with food poisoning. To make ginger tea, boil one teaspoon grated ginger in a cup of water for a few minutes, add a little sugar or honey and your tea is ready.
Another option is to add a few drops of ginger juice to one teaspoon of honey and swallow it several times a day to reduce inflammation and pain.
You can also eat raw ginger slices.
Though acidic in nature apple cider vinegar has an alkaline effect due to the way it is metabolized in the body. Thus, it can alleviate various food poisoning symptoms. It can soothe the gastrointestinal lining and kill the bacteria, giving you instant relief.
Just mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a cup of hot water and drink it before eating your food.
Alternatively, you can drink two to three teaspoons of undiluted apple cider vinegar.
Cumin or jeera seeds are a good way to soothe the inflammation in your stomach, reduce the tenderness and aid healing. Crush a tablespoon of cumin seeds and add it to your clear soup.
Apples are as effective against food poisoning as they reduce heartburn and acid reflux. Apples are known to have enzymes that inhibit the growth of the bacteria that cause diarrhea and stomach ache.
Drink 3-4 cups of peppermint tea or eat anything that contains peppermint or menthol, like chewing gum or hard candies. Peppermint calms down the contraction in the stomach, help in digesting food, and expel gas. Even a little toothpaste can work for curing this trouble.
Eating chicken broth can pace up the healing process of the patient. When a person is gradually healing from the problem of food poisoning, he/she should be given chicken broth as it is mild and the body will not reject it immediately.
Drink lemon water again and again to get rid of food poisoning. Lemon juice is acidic and it kills the germs that cure food poisoning. Take a glass of warm water. Squeeze one lemon in it.Add pinch of sugar and salt in it. Stir well to mix everything and then drink the water. Practice this method 2-3 times daily. It not only cures food poisoning, it also save your body from getting dehydrated.
Basil is a superb herb that relieves a person from infection. One can take basil in various forms, like it can be taken as juice along with honey, or its juice can be added in one litre of water, which can be drunk throughout the day to erode infection. Alternatively, basil can be taken by adding three tablespoons of yogurt in it along with a pinch of black pepper and some sea salt. Eat this for about three-four times a day until the symptoms of food poisoning are gone.
