Best Home Remedies For Stomach Flu

Ginger
With its natural anti-inflammatory properties, ginger is a highly effective home remedy for stomach flu. Plus, ginger is a natural antiviral that will help fight off the virus causing the flu.

This herb will aid digestion and give you relief from nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and bloating. It will also help reduce the frequency of loose stools.

Boil one teaspoon of freshly chopped ginger in 1.5 cups of hot water. Cover and allow it to steep for about 10 minutes. Strain and sip this tea slowly. Drink it a few times a day until you feel better.
You can even chew a small piece of fresh ginger root several times a day to soothe the stomach.
Note: People with high blood pressure should avoid ginger remedies.

Peppermint

Peppermint is another herb widely used to fight stomach flu. It is a carminative and contains antispasmodic properties that help dispel gas and bloating as well as give you relief from stomach and intestinal cramps.

Add one teaspoon of dried peppermint leaves to one cup of boiling water. Allow it to steep for 10 minutes, strain and cool. Drink this herbal tea four or five times daily between meals for two to three days.
You can also take one or two enteric-coated peppermint capsules two or three times per day until you get relief from the symptoms.

Bananas

Bananas are easy to digest and high in potassium, a nutrient often lost through diarrhea. They're also high in pectin, a fiber that helps ease diarrhea.

Yogurt

Usually dairy products aren't a good choice when you have a stomach bug because they can be hard to digest. But live bacteria — the probiotics — in yogurt help bring your digestive system back into balance. Be sure to choose plain, unsweetened yogurt.

Fennel seed tea

Fennel seed is a favored ingredient for treating stomach ailments; particularly gas and stomach cramps which will most likely be accompanying your virus. Mix a teaspoon of fennel seeds with one cup of boiling water; cover and let steep for 10 minutes. Strain, add some honey if you like, drink (up to three times a day) on an empty stomach

Chamomile tea

Chamomile has been used as a traditional medicine for millennia to soothe frazzled nerves, as an aid against insomnia and to settle whacky stomachs. While there hasn’t been a lot of western science to back up these claims, all of chamomile's traditional health benefits are well-suited for someone suffering from a stomach bug; worst case scenario, you get hydrated.

Thyme tea

Experts note that the volatile oils in thyme give it carminative (gas-reducing) properties, while its phenols work as an antispasmodic – so it both relieves gas and cramping. Mix one teaspoon of dried thyme leaves with one cup of boiling water; cover and let steep for 10 minutes. Strain, add some honey if you like, drink (up to three times a day) on an empty stomach.
