 Best Home Remedies For Eczema

Honey
Honey is used to treat a variety of skin problems including eczema. The soothing, antiseptic and antibacterial properties in honey can reduce eczema and heal eczema scars to a great extent.

Daily apply honey directly onto the affected skin area after washing it thoroughly.
You can also make a scrub using honey and crystallized sugar. Scrub the affected area with it gently for a few minutes and then rinse it off. Do this a few times a week until the scar is completely gone.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar contains astringent, antifungal and antibacterial properties that can reduce eczema as well as eczema scars.

Mix two teaspoons each of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and raw honey in a glass of water and drink it three times a day. It will boost the immune system, which will gradually reduce skin inflammation and scarring.
You can also apply apple cider vinegar directly to the skin by mixing one part vinegar and one part water. This will help reduce itchiness and dryness.

Coconut oil

Let’s start with the most straightforward and simple eh? Coconut oil does a great job of sinking into the skin and filling in that intercellular space that’s opened up and caused you to lose moisture. It’s a lipid, of course, and fats and oils are what you need to prevent your skin from drying out and becoming more irritated.

You will need…

-Coconut oil

Directions

Rinse your hands with water and pat them dry. Rub the coconut oil onto the affected areas, and let it dry. Apply throughout the day as needed.

Jojoba

While coconut oil is really fantastic, eczema is a highly individual condition, and not everybody finds success with it. If this is the case, or even if it isn’t, try jojoba oil. It isn’t actually an oil, but a liquid wax. It penetrates the skin deeply, and its molecular structure is the most similar of all the oils to that of our skins natural sebum (oil.) It is composed of long chain fatty acids and fatty alcohols and is incredibly rich and moisturizing. Don’t let the word alcohol scare you away-fatty alcohols are not the least bit harmful to the skin, unlike the drying artificial types such as methanol, isopropyl alcohol, and benzyl alcohol.

You will need…

-Jojoba oil

Directions

Rinse your hands with water and pat them dry. Apply jojoba oil to the affected area, gently massaging it into your skin until it is at least partially absorbed. It is extremely rich and you don’t need a whole lot of it. Apply 3 times daily as needed.

Aloe Vera Juice
The gel like sap that you will get from the Aloe Vera plant if you cut the leaf of the plant has been used to treat burns, wounds and other skin conditions for ages. It has soothing and healing properties that will help you to get rid of eczema problems on your skin. Applying Aloe Vera gel on your skin will help in reducing itchiness as well as works as a moisturizing lotion for your dry and flaky skin.

How To Use?
•    It is always better to use fresh Aloe Vera juice that is extracted from the leaf of the plant.
•    All you need to do is to cut the leaf into half and extract all the colorless gel like substance in the leaf.
•    Apply this gel on the affected area and let it react with the skin for a few minutes.
•    Regular application of the Aloe Vera gel on your skin will provide a soothing effect and will also reduce itching of the skin.

Organic Cucumber
Cucumber is a very good natural ingredient that helps in soothing the skin and to make the skin glow. The cucumber juice has cooling effects and will help in reducing skin irritations due to eczema. Make sure that you use only organic cucumber for treating eczema.

How To Use?
•    Cut the cucumber into thin round slices and place the fleshy area of the cucumber on the affected areas of the skin.
•    Allow it to soak on the skin for one to two hours. Repeat this process daily to provide a soothing effect to your skin.
•    You can also extract the cucumber juice and apply it to the affected areas with a clean cotton cloth or gauze.

Fermented Cod Liver Oil

Sounds nasty (doesn’t taste so great either) but fermented cod liver oil is one of the supplements we take daily. From a past post:

“Fermented Cod Liver Oil (FCLO) is recommended by the Weston A. Price Foundation and is a great source of healthy fats for the body. This supplement is also an integral part of the tooth remineralization process as detailed by Dr. Price and by Rami Nagel in Cure Tooth Decay. These two help reduce inflammation in the body and lead to healthy cell, hormone and brain development. They are especially important during pregnancy and for children while their brains are developing.

Cod Liver Oil/High Vitamin Butter Oil are a great source of the fat-soluble vitamins A,D, E and K and as such are supportive of hundreds or processes in the body. The supplements are rather pricey, but we’ve seen a big difference from adding this to our regimen (including skin health!)

We take Fermented Cod Liver Oil in Capsules or Fermented Cod Liver Oil/High Vitamin Butter Oil blend in Gel Form.

Yes, the taste is terrible and yes, my kids do have to take it anyway. You can sneak the chocolate flavored gel into smoothies though.
