When the muscles contract the tendons glide in one smooth motion and pull the muscles without causing any friction. But if the tendon becomes inflamed its smooth and easy movement is lost and it jars at every move. There is swelling and redness and the joint too becomes tender and painful. The tendons in the ankles, hips, knees, wrists and shoulders are the most easily compromised tendons and they make movement very difficult and painful.

Ice
