Amazing  Beauty Tips and uses of Baking Soda

As an all-over scrub
Just add oatmeal for a nourishing, refreshing body exfoliator gentle enough for daily use. Make a paste of three parts baking soda, one part water, and one part ground oatmeal. Rub in a gentle circular motion to exfoliate skin and remove dead skin cells. Rinse clean with warm water.

To remove product buildup
Get rid of extra product buildup in your hair by sprinkling about a quarter-size of baking soda into your palm along with your favorite shampoo. Shampoo as usual and rinse thoroughly. The baking soda helps remove the residue that styling products leave behind so your hair is cleaner and more manageable.

Add baking soda in your bath to make your skin softer
Before taking a bath, add a half cup of baking soda into your bathtub. It will make your skin softer and smoother.

Use it as a deodorant
Put 3 table spoons of baking soda into the bowl and add 3-5 drops of your favourite essential oil (my favorites are rose and lavender essential oils), mix it all together and your deodorant is ready. Apply it with a powder puff or a kabuki brush onto your underarms, it will efficiently neutralize the body odor.

Baking soda shampoo
Mix baking soda with your favourite shampoo to get a wonderful purifying shampoo that will cleanse your hair from the residue that styling products leave behind. Mix one table spoon of soda with one table spoon of your favourite shampoo and wash your hair with this mix. After rinsing thoroughly, you will notice that your hair will become squeaky clean and more easily manageable. It’s not an everyday shampoo though. It’s great to wash your hair with this baking soda shampoo once or twice a month. For similar result you can also wash your hair with just baking soda plus water – this is one of the most popular uses of baking soda.

Baking soda mouthwash
To create an easy baking soda mouthwash, mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 3 drops of peppermint essential oil (or eucalyptus essential oil) in a glass of water. Your mouthwash is ready! It will freshen your breath and neutralise bacteria.

Hairbrush cleaner
Take a close look at your hairbrush and you may be totally grossed out by what you see built up toward the base of the bristles. Rather than tossing it right into the garbage can, remove this product residue by soaking your brushes and combs in a basin of warm water with 1 teaspoon of baking soda for about 20 minutes. Rinse, and then allow to dry on a towel before using

Body exfoliator
Your skin will look dull and ashy if you allow dry, dead cells to build up on the surface. Speed cell turnover and get an enviable all-over glow by exfoliating once a week. No need to buy an expensive scrub; make your own with baking soda by using the same formula as your face: one part water to three parts baking soda.

Teeth Whitening
Baking soda is a tried-and-true teeth whitener, which is good news for anyone who wants to lighten their teeth up a few shades without undergoing a serious dental treatment. Dr. Jessica Emery of Sugar Fix Dental Loft in Chicago recommends a recipe of 1 tablespoon baking soda, 5 drops hydrogen peroxide, and a few drops of water mixed into a small container until a consistent paste develops. Use a toothbrush to apply the solution evenly to your teeth, and let it sit for five minutes. Brush it off with normal toothpaste and rinse thoroughly with water. To see serious results, repeat the process once a week. “If you’re not satisfied with the results,” Dr. Emery continues, “leave the mixture on for 10 minutes at a time,” but no longer than that, “because you can get an uneven application, and your teeth may get sensitive.”

Blackhead Remover
A teaspoon of baking soda mixed with a cup of pure distilled water makes an excellent solution for blackheads. “This is what many professional estheticians use,”says esthetician Pearl Dworkin, “either with steam or with galvanic current prior to extractions. It helps draw out the blackheads and makes extractions come out very easily.” You can do this at home by first cleansing the skin, then mixing up the solution and holding your head over a basin of hot water with a towel over your head to help concentrate the heat and steam. Extractions should be done gently with fingers wrapped in cotton, never nails or fingertips.
