DIY Tinted And Plain Lip Balms Flavored With Scent Of Your Choice
I have researched and selected some of the best DIY lip balm recipes for you. So, are you now pretty excited about the idea of making diy lip balm for yourself in your own kitchen , well spending only pennies? Grab the full “how-to” right here:

1. Coconut Oil Lip Balm: Coconut oil has moisturizing ability and also smells great!  Vitamin E oil is an amazing ingredient because of its various natural beauty care benefits – it helps diminish the effects of sun damage, lessens dryness and boosts up moisture retention.  It also works as a powerful antioxidant and thus improves immune system. Tea tree oil has excellent healing properties and also helps keep bacteria at bay.  Adding a little bit of tea tree oil to the balm not only provides a tingly flavor, but also gives antibacterial protection. Combined, these ingredients make for an amazing lip balm that will make your lips feel incredibly moisturized, soft and luscious.

You will need:
(i) Beeswax: 1 cup, shaved (use a cheese grater or a knife, but be careful!)

(ii) Coconut oil: 3 tablespoons

(iii) Vitamin E oil: 1 teaspoon

(iv) Tea tree oil: 2-3 drops

Method: Boil water in a regular pot and place a saucepan on top of the pot. Put beeswax in the saucepan and melt it (this way you can avoid burning the beeswax).  Mix in the coconut oil with the beeswax and stir until melted. Once melted, remove from the boiling water pot.  Now add in the vitamin E oil and tea tree oil and mix in while the mixture is still hot.  Pour into a container of your choice, and allow the mixture to cool and harden overnight. Is it not surprisingly simple, right!

2. Peppermint Lip Balm: Peppermint essential oil provides a refreshing holiday feel and cooling sensation. If you don’t like peppermint, try a different essential oil. Lavender, eucalyptus, and sweet orange oils are some of my favorites. If you’re not a fan of scents, you can leave them out completely and still get the benefits of an all-natural lip balm. You can even get swanky and add a little bit of color for a tinted lip balm. The possibilities are unlimited.

You will need:

(i) Beeswax: 1 teaspoon, white and in pellets

(ii) Coconut oil: 1 teaspoon, organic (this dilutes the peppermint oil from a burn to a tingle)

(iii) Sweet almond oil: One and half teaspoon (this dilutes the peppermint oil from a burn to a tingle)

(iv) Peppermint essential oil: 2 drops

(v) Optional: lipstick shavings for a hint of tint

Method: Fill a medium sauce pot halfway up with water and set it on the stove to boil. You don’t want to use a pot that is too deep, as you want the mason jar to be able to sit in the water without getting any water inside of the jar. Put the carrier oils (coconut oil and sweet almond oil) and the beeswax in the mason jar and close the lid. Heat the jar in a pot with water on medium-high heat until wax is melted. Use a chopstick to stir everything together. Use a jar lifter to remove it from the heat. Add peppermint oil with a dropper and mix using the chop-stick (not too much or it’ll burn your lips – I recommend starting with 2 drops and adding more next time if necessary). If you’d like your balm to be tinted, stir in your lipstick shavings until your desired color is achieved. Then immediately pour the mixture into suitable container(s), using an oven glove to save your hand from scalding. When the lip balm has cooled, it will become solid. At this point, it’s ready for use, and you can screw the lid(s) back on.

3. Honey Lip Balm DIY: After you brush your teeth, apply lip balm and if your lips feel even the least bit dry – apply a bit of honey on them before bed.  Honey acts as a humectant (a substance that attracts and retains moisture) – when you wake up your lips will be resurrected and taste amazingly juicy.

You will need:

(i) Beeswax: 3 teaspoons, grated unbleached (don’t go for any chemicals in there!)

(ii) Carrier (Base) oil: 5 teaspoons (use jojoba – some other options are sunflower or castor)

(iii) Vitamin E: 1/2 teaspoon

(iv) Honey: 1 teaspoon

Natural Beauty Tip: For glossier lip balm, use 2 teaspoon wax and 8 teaspoons of the carrier oil.

Method: Melt the beeswax and mix in carrier oil the same way as above. Stir the beeswax and oil together and remove from heat. Add in honey and Vitamin E. Mix thoroughly so as the honey does not clump. Pour into a lip-balm container; allow it to cool before covering or using.

Is it not super easy?  This will take about 10 minutes to make and that includes melting time!  After a week or so the honey will separate.  You will notice tiny beads of honey oozing up at the edges. Just rub it back into the balm and apply. Yum!

4. Kool Aid Lip Balm: Hello, are you wondering, Kool-Aid in a lip balm? Yes! not only does it give the coconut oil and beeswax a pretty hue, but that you can also have tropical punch flavor.

You will need:

(i) Coconut oil: 2 tablespoons

(ii) Petroleum jelly: 1 ½ tablespoons (alternatively, you can use shea butter)

(iii) Beeswax: 1 ½ tablespoon, shaved

(iv) Kool-aid: a squirt (use the liquid variety, but the powder works perfectly as well!)

Method:

(i) Mix the 3 ingredients in the manner suggested above.

(ii) After blending the ingredients, heat for 1 minute.

(iii) Mix in the kool-aid until you get the desired color. Pour mixture into a container, let it cool down.
