If you suffer from acne you can benefit by applying it on the acne affected areas twice a day. Its antibacterial properties will eliminate acne-causing bacteria Propionibacterium acnes and heal the acne lesions. Oregano oil is antimicrobial as its main ingredient is carvacrol which has very good  antimicrobial properties making it effective for treating skin conditions including acne infections.

It is also known to possess anti-inflammatory properties and this will help in bringing down the redness and swelling in cystic acne. As an acne cure it also helps to reduce pain caused by large pimples.

Oil of Oregano should be taken by acne sufferers as this natural remedy for acne has very high levels of antioxidants. Antioxidants are essential for maintaining a stable immune system. If the immune system is working well then it also shows in the health of the skin.

Suggested External Use
To use Oil of Oregano as a treatment for acne, place a couple of drops of Oregano oil in a glass of water.  Do a test  patch first to make sure you are not allergic to it.  If you are not allergic to it then you can dab it on your acne.  Clean your skin first and dab the oregano oil (diluted in water) on the acne using a cotton ball being careful not to get it in the eyes.  Do not rinse your face with water after this. Just allow the solution to dry up naturally on your skin. There might be a slight tingling sensation.  If your skin turns red, stop using it for a couple of days and then try again with only one drop of oregano oil in a glass of water.  You can apply it in the morning and at night.

NEVER EVER apply undiluted oregano oil directly to the skin, it MUST be diluted as it is very strong.  Do not apply to the eyes, genital region or mucus membranes as it will cause a burning sensation and irritation.

It is better to use the ‘Super Strength’ oregano oil as this contains less olive oil in its proprietary blend, which is not good for acne.  Oils can clog the pores and make the problem worse.  As Oregano Oil is a strong disinfectant irritation can occur if using it directly on the skin. All manufacturers dilute the oil in a “carrier oil.” We use Organic Olive Oil.  You cannot get 100% Oregano Oil.
