Hence, it becomes important to treat dry and itchy scalp as soon as possible.

There are many over-the-counter creams, oils, shampoos and conditioners for dealing with the problem. But the best of these hair care products are very expensive and loaded with chemicals that may harm our hair in the long run. The best solution to dry and itchy scalp lies in remedies that can be easily performed at home. These remedies are simple and not very expensive. However, one has to be very regular in their use to get best results.

Lemon for Itchy And Dry Scalp
Lemon juice is the best available home remedy for treating dryness of scalp. Lemon has enzymes that kill the bacteria that are cause of dandruff. These enzymes also help lock in the natural oils to the scalp that reduces dryness. Using lemon for curing dryness is very easy. Take a medium sized ripe lemon and cut it into two halves. Divide your hair into manageable sections so that the scalp is easily visible.Remove the seeds from the lemon and start rubbing one half of the lemon on the scalp. Keep squeezing the lemon as you go. Use the other half of the lemon as well if required. You need to rub lemon only on your scalp and not on the hair. Do not rub vigorously or you will break your hair from their roots. Leave the lemon juice on the scalp for 30 minutes and then gently massage your head. Wash your hair using plain water only. This treatment should be done every alternate day for three weeks. On the days that you don’t use lemon, wash hair with mild shampoo. 

Tea Tree Oil for Itchy And Dry Scalp
Tea tree oil, with its powerful natural antifungal, anti-inflammation and antibacterial properties, can be used to treat itchy scalp. You can use tea tree oil in various ways, for instance:

You can add 10 to 20 drops of tea tree oil to one-half cup of baby shampoo and use it daily until the condition of your scalp improves.
Another option is to dilute two or three drops of tea tree oil in one tablespoon of vegetable oil and massage the mixture onto your scalp. With regular use, this remedy will heal a dry, itchy scalp within a week or two.

Baking Soda for Itchy And Dry Scalp

Make a paste with baking soda and water and apply it directly onto your scalp. For best results, rub some olive oil on your scalp before applying the baking soda paste.
Allow it to soak into your scalp for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse well with water.

Process:

First of all, rinse your hair and scalp with water and let it dry completely.
Take equal parts of apple cider vinegar and water.
Mix both these ingredients well and pour it in an empty spray bottle.
Then you can apply this solution directly on your scalp by using cotton ball or you can spray in onto your scalp and massage it for few minutes.
Let it sit for 15 – 20minutes by putting a towel around your head and finally wash it off with shampoo and normal water.

Aloe Vera for Itchy And Dry Scalp

Process:

Take a fresh aloe vera leaf and squeeze it gel and apply it on your scalp with the help of your fingers.

You may add it to other essential oils to treat head lice and get rid of itchiness.
How to Use Sesame Oil for Itchy Scalp
Get this:
Sesame oil- 1-2 tbsp
Lemon juice (optional)- few drops
Hot towel (optional)
Do this:
Heat the sesame oil to make it warm (not hot).
Massage some warm sesame oil into your scalp for about 10 minutes before you go to bed each night.
After massaging, you may wrap your head in a hot towel and leave for another 10 minutes before you go to sleep. However, this is an optional step. You may omit using hot towel as a wrap.
If using a hot towel, remove the towel and let the oil be there overnight as it will moisturize the area very well.
Wash your scalp and hair in the morning.
Do this daily till you get relief from itchy scalp.
You may also add some lemon juice to warm sesame oil before you massage it into your scalp. This will add to the dryness treatment of your scalp.

Simmer for one hour and remove from the flame. Strain the concoction and 6-7 drops of rosemary oil to this. Allow it to cool and massage your head with this mixture.
