What is Athlete’s foot?
Athlete’s foot or “tinea pedis” is a kind of contagious fungal infection that affects the upper layer of the skin of the foot. It results in flaking, itching, and scaling on the affected areas. It is caused by fungi, such as Epidermophyton floccosum, Trichophyton rubrum or Trichophyton mentagrophytes.

Garlic for Athlete's Foot
Garlic has known anti fungal properties that very helpful in restricting the growth of fungi. Regular application of garlic over the infected area will make you absolutely infection free. Take 5-6 pods of garlic. Peel the garlic pods and crush them properly using mortar and pestle. Apply the crushed garlic evenly over your infected foot. Wrap the infected and treated area with medical gauze so that the garlic remains in place. Leave for a couple of hours. Wash your foot with warm water and medicated soap and dry it completely using a towel or hair dryer. It is important to not leave the infected area wet. Wait for an hour and then re-apply the garlic. This treatment should be done thrice a day. If you cannot do that for whatever reasons, then apply crushed garlic to your foot at night and leave it overnight. This treatment should be done every day for three months. 

Vinegar for Athlete's Foot
The acidic property of vinegar helps kill the fungus and lower the level of alkaline found on the skin, which will inhibit the infection from spreading rapidly. Vinegar also helps draw out extra moisture from your feet, which in turn speeds up the healing process.

Prepare a foot soak by mixing one part of vinegar and three parts of warm water. Soak your feet in it for about 15 minutes once or twice a day. Dry your feet thoroughly after each soak. Repeat the process for about a week or until the infection is gone.
Mix one cup each of water and vinegar. Wash the affected area with antiseptic soap and then dip a cotton ball in the vinegar mixture and apply it on the affected areas. Leave it on for 20 minutes.Then clean the area with a wet cloth and pat it dry. Follow this remedy twice daily for several weeks.

Yogurt for Athlete's Foot
Yogurt containing active bacterial cultures is very effective in fighting fungal infections like athlete’s foot. The live acidophilus bacteria present in plain yogurt helps keep fungal and bacterial infections in check. Buy plain yogurt with live, active cultures.

Apply the yogurt on the affected area and allow it to dry on its own. Then rinse it off with lukewarm water and thoroughly pat dry the area. Follow this remedy twice daily for several weeks.
Eat one cup of plain yogurt in the morning and in the evening. You can add two more cups of yogurt if your athlete’s foot is severe. Eat yogurt daily until the infection is gone completely.

Foot Soak for Athlete's Foot
Soak your foot for at least 10-15 minutes in warm water mixed with salt to get rid of athlete’s foot. Repeat the procedure every day until the infection gets completely healed.

Mustard Oil for Athlete's Foot
